Literacy Volunteers of Marion County held a ribbon cutting event for their 2 new Little Free Libraries outside of Apple Annie's at the Middletown Commons on November 9th.The event was attended by dignitaries, Marion County Chamber of Commerce board members, and volunteers from Literacy Volunteers. A big thanks to David Biafora and General Acquisitions LLC for supporting literacy in Marion County.

Check out our 2 new Little Free Library locations located at the Middletown Commons between Apple Annie's and Ace Hardware and inside by the mailboxes. Spread the word and feel free to take a book or leave one.

We are excited to announce that we have received a grant from Walmart Giving!
We can't wait to utilize these funds to benefit our community!
Literacy Volunteers of Marion County participated in the City of Fairmont's ​National Night's Out event held at the Veteran's Square Plaza on August 2, 2022. We gave out over 100 books and our "Digging for Letters" activity was a big hit!!!

On June 18, 2022 Literacy Volunteers of Marion County participated in the Juneteenth celebration at Windmill Park. A fun time was had by all. Lots of books were given out and kids of all ages enjoyed our "Digging for Letters" activity!

Literacy Volunteers of Marion County participated in the United Way's "Day of Action" on June 21, 2022. Volunteers from US Cellular came and assisted us in organizing our office space.

On May 15, 2022, Literacy Volunteers of Marion County participated in the 1st annual STEAM Faire at Learning Options Inc. Over 100 books were passed out to kids throughout the day. Everyone enjoyed decorating their own personal bookmark to take home with them!

Literacy Volunteers of Marion County participated in the Literacy Fair held at the Fairmont Field House. Over 300 books were passed out to students throughout the day. There was also a fun activity available for the kids to decorate their own book pouch or bookmark to take home with them!

During the first week of May our volunteers read the book "Ten For Me" to all the Head Start classrooms in Marion County. Our goal is to promote literacy by reading books to the children. Each child received their own personal copy of the book to enjoy!
